Why Refer to Healthy Sleep Tulsa?
Healthy Sleep Tulsa is focused on sleep and airway care rather than routine general dentistry. Our doctors work with patients who need support navigating obstructive sleep apnea, CPAP difficulties, dental sleep treatment, restrictive oral tissues, and related functional concerns.
Our referral process is designed around continuity of care. Depending on the patient’s needs, that may include:
- Review of the patient’s diagnosis and treatment history
- Dental evaluation for oral appliance candidacy
- Home sleep testing coordination when appropriate
- Custom oral appliance selection and fitting
- Appliance adjustment and titration
- Objective follow-up sleep testing
- Two-month in-office follow-up after appliance delivery
- Six-month and yearly telemedicine follow-up
- Communication back to referring providers
- Coordination with medical sleep management when appropriate
Our goal is to manage the dental and airway portion of care while keeping the patient’s broader healthcare team informed.

Oral Appliance Therapy Referrals
Healthy Sleep Tulsa evaluates adults with a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea who may benefit from oral appliance therapy. Common referral situations include patients who are unable to tolerate CPAP, patients who prefer an alternative when medically appropriate, and patients whose treatment plan includes dental sleep therapy.
Our doctors evaluate dental health, bite relationships, jaw function, airway-related anatomy, and other factors that may affect appliance therapy. We work with several custom appliance designs so treatment can be selected around the patient’s individual needs rather than a single device.
Once treatment begins, we continue to monitor the patient rather than end care at appliance delivery.
Objective Follow-Up and Titration
Treatment efficacy matters. Subjective improvements, such as reduced snoring or improved daytime energy, are valuable patient observations, but they do not replace objective sleep data.
Healthy Sleep Tulsa coordinates follow-up titration studies to evaluate oral appliance treatment. Results can help guide further appliance adjustments and provide the medical provider with additional information about the patient’s response.
Our documented follow-up schedule includes:
- An in-office evaluation approximately two months after appliance delivery
- Titration sleep testing to evaluate treatment effectiveness
- A six-month telemedicine follow-up
- Yearly telemedicine visits
- Additional appliance evaluation when indicated
This continued monitoring helps maintain a clear connection between dental treatment and the patient’s medical sleep care.
Communication With Referring Physicians
We value the providers who entrust patients to our team. When a patient is referred by a primary care physician or sleep physician, Healthy Sleep Tulsa sends follow-up communication regarding the patient’s care and progress.
Our intent is to support coordinated treatment rather than create a separate care track that leaves the referring provider without information.
Depending on the patient’s treatment pathway, communication may address the dental treatment provided, follow-up progress, and relevant titration information. Medical diagnosis and management remain with the appropriate medical provider.
Combined Therapy Referrals
Some patients continue to need positive airway pressure therapy but struggle with comfort or treatment tolerance. Others may receive partial benefit from an oral appliance but require additional support.
For selected patients, combined CPAP and oral appliance therapy may be considered. Healthy Sleep Tulsa manages the oral appliance portion while the patient’s sleep physician or other medical provider remains responsible for PAP management.
We do not independently change prescribed CPAP settings. When combined treatment is pursued, coordination between the dental and medical teams remains central to care.
Home Sleep Testing Coordination
Patients sometimes reach our office with symptoms suggestive of obstructive sleep apnea but without a current diagnosis. Healthy Sleep Tulsa can help coordinate home sleep testing when appropriate.
An appropriate medical provider interprets the study and establishes the diagnosis. Our role is to help patients navigate testing and, after diagnosis, provide dental sleep treatment when oral appliance therapy is indicated.
This distinction allows the patient to receive focused dental sleep care while maintaining appropriate medical oversight.
Lip and Tongue-Tie Referrals
Healthy Sleep Tulsa also evaluates restrictive oral tissues in infants, children, and adults. We base treatment decisions on function rather than the appearance of the frenulum alone.
Patients may be referred for concerns involving feeding, limited tongue mobility, oral function, or other symptoms where a restriction may be contributing. When appropriate, our team provides lip and tongue-tie release using laser technology.
Depending on the patient’s age and concerns, care may also involve lactation, pediatric, speech, or other appropriate providers.
